As long as she can remember, Ms. Musser wanted to help people. At a young age, she would go to school with her mother, a special education teacher of 7th and 8th graders, to help students who had varying degrees of educational needs, behavioral issues, and disabilities. It was then that she witnessed firsthand the inspiring passion her mother had (and has) for her students, and her unwavering desire to help. Ms. Musser knew she wanted to do the same; She wanted to work to help people, especially those marginalized by society.
Ms. Musser continued her interest in civil rights issues and in helping those who face them. While in college, she was a tutor for Somali immigrants in a predominantly Irish-Catholic part of Maine. Then, she went on to assist Spanish speaking clients faced with immigration and criminal defense matters at a boutique law firm located in Seattle. While in Law School, Ms. Musser participated in a “Racial Justice Leadership Institute,” a professional development colloquium promoting discussions on urgent issues of social justice, and a course in South Africa entitled “Human Rights and the Marketplace” to learn about how businesses adversely impact Human Rights primarily in African countries. Thereafter, she externed and later volunteered as a licensed lawyer for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, an organization dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to those who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Although all of these opportunities dealt with distinct issues, they all involved learning about and aiding those who have faced injustices.
Ms. Musser joined the Law Offices of Traci M. Hinden so that she can continue her path and passion for zealous advocacy and support those who have been discriminated against or denied civil rights or liberties.
